Welcome to the homepage of Portland Community College’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Club 2020 Mural Project!  We are an all-volunteer group of student cartographers and geographic analysts who collaboratively mapped art murals in the Portland area.

We’ve compiled an extensive resource for learning about and interacting with Portland’s vibrant and eclectic street art and culture. All photos were taken by the GIS Club members.

How to Use this Map:

Clicking on a point in the map brings up a window to the left of the map, with a photo of the mural, and some information about the mural. You can expand the photo to full screen by clicking on the double arrow button. To return to the main map, click the arrow to the left of "Portland's Art Murals".

Clicking on a photo also brings up information about a mural, and you can also view it in full screen.

The mural in the background is Still We Rise by Arvie Smith (2018).

Project Coordinated by Catherine Green and Russell Park

The GIS Club members worked together to collect locational data to map the murals using Esri Collector, photographed each mural, conducted research to find information about each mural, collborated on cartographic design, designed a web map using AGOL, and created this website.
